Red Bull SoloQ 2020

Designed like a theatrical box, it unfolds to reveal a new battle scene at every depth.

This custom gift set was awarded to the 50 qualified players of the Red Bull SoloQ event, which was unable to held in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

For this project, the goal was to freeze moments of combat within a display set waiting to be unveiled.

Designing an architectural frame to house the logo—conceived here as a true title—was the starting point for this visual concept.

Informed by the universe of League of Legends, around which the tournament is organized, we drew inspiration from ancient sanctuaries and divine temples to imagine this setting. Frescoes, sculptures, and architectural motifs blend into a detail-rich composition where colonnades, vaults, and ornate details fill every space.

The frescoes gracing the two inner pediments recount the exploits of legendary heroes, while two knights flanking the colonnades act as guardians. These figures reference the qualifier trophies we created for the previous edition, as does the winged bull’s head—the emblem of the event—inspired by the final trophy of the Red Bull Player One tournament. Positioned at the top center of the composition, it crowns the entire assembly.

Upon opening the box, the architectural backdrop yields to a new scene: a pop-up unfolds, revealing a wild realm where warriors clash. Capable of aerial combat and elemental mastery, these heroes draw inspiration from high-fantasy lore.

We designed this scene to capture the fighting spirit at the core of the competition. Across the pop-up’s three planes, pairs of opposing figures create distinct confrontation scenes. To build its visual identity, we drew inspiration from Eastern art, particularly Chinese drawings, paintings, and woodblock prints.

Finally, lifting the inner tray reveals the remaining awards for the victors, including a custom medal created specifically for the occasion.
