Designed for the Speedrun Super Mario Odyssey Championship held in Berlin on 18 July 2020, this trophy distinguishes performance in a world where precision and time control are central.

The core challenge of this piece was translating the momentum of speedrunning into a custom award design.
For this edition, we chose to translate the game’s universe and the core principles of speedrunning into a graphic, intentionally dynamic composition. The overlapping elements and ascending trajectory reference the players’ progression through the levels, while giving the trophy a fun, graphic appeal reflective of the game itself.
Printed onto the PMMA structure, the illustration borrows visual cues from Super Mario Odyssey, featuring shapes inspired by the game’s iconic bricks and environments. Their offset arrangement reinforces a vertical composition that suggests momentum and overcoming obstacles, without attempting a literal reproduction of the game’s world.
The piece sits on a painted wood base that brings simplicity and stability to the composition, complemented by an engraved golden plate on the front for a refined touch.
Combining wood, PMMA, and gold-toned metal, the resulting trophy balances playfulness and elegance, bridging the gap between gaming culture and competitive excellence.
